With open auditions for model/performers coming up, we asked some of our regular models, Daniella Merci, Florence Cater, Nina Domanski, Anthea Vache, Ellie Leong, Mikaela Adlam and Shikhia Ngatai, to share what they love about being in the WOW Show.
What makes you come back each year to perform on the WOW stage?
Nina: Being a WOW model feeds the creative part of my soul!
Daniella: It’s such an exciting performance to be a part of and each year is so different from the last.
Florence: The incredible feeling of bringing a designer’s pride and joy to life on an international stage.
Shikhia: I come back every year because it’s fun, creative and the people are amazing!
Mikaela: The people, the passion and the overwhelming aroha for creativity.
Why would you encourage someone to come along to the WOW model auditions?
Daniella: The WOW audition experience is a lot of fun, no matter what skill set you have, everyone in the room is so supportive.
Ellie: Because it is such a unique, one-of-a-kind opportunity to be a part of something so widely recognised all around the world, but so unique to the New Zealand arts community. There’s nothing quite like WOW!
Florence: If not for the opportunity to wear jaw-dropping garments, for the WOW family and genuine individuals you’d meet along the way!
Nina: Becoming a WOW model is a performance opportunity like no other, world class and totally unique.
Shikhia: I have met lifelong friends through WOW—it’s such an inclusive and welcoming company.
How would you explain what it means to you to perform for WOW?
Florence: I come out of the WOW season feeling empowered, fulfilled and inspired! It is the most exciting time of the year by far, each year leaving me with lifelong memories and friends.
Daniella: WOW has become a second family to me, which makes performing as part of the show even more special
Anthea: Performing for WOW is incredibly fulfilling, offering a sense of connection and shared experience. It has boosted my confidence and provided a safe space to express myself without judgment, while being part of a team that feels like family.
Mikaela: As soon as we perform the final show, I am counting down the days until it happens again!
