As part of the online entry process, you must upload a minimum of 10 photographs that clearly display your completed garment. You can upload up to 15 images to showcase your work.
Capturing your garment at its best is essential.
The ten required photos must include the front, back, and both side views. All photographs should be in full colour and completely in focus.
Please ensure your images accurately represent your garment, not photoshopped to mislead or misrepresent, nor Ai generated.
It is extremely important to use a plain and neutral background so that the garment can be seen clearly. Do not take your photographs outside and/or with a busy background. This will disadvantage you as it makes it harder for the panel to see the garment without distraction. While studio photography is great, you can achieve good results photographing your garment in your own home using a smartphone to take photos and a plain wall or a pinned-up sheet as a backdrop.
Photographs must be uploaded as JPG, tiff, PNG or BMP files. The maximum file size for each photograph is 1.5MB.
For Preliminary Selection your photographs are reviewed by the selection panel, and they are the only reference the panel has for what your garment looks like. So providing clear and informative photographs is vitally important.
Also, once selected, your photographs are used as a “visual instruction manual” for our Wardrobe Department who dress the models. Photographs will ensure your garment is worn exactly as you envision. Your photographs remain with your garment throughout the entire judging process and show season.
The more information you can provide in your photos the better. For example, submitting images including close-up, detailed shots is encouraged. It’s all in the detail. Your photographs should depict the tilt of the hat, the fold of the collar, or if there is a cloak or a cape, should it fall off one shoulder? Left or right? You can upload a maximum of ten images to help tell this story.
If your entry comprises more than one garment (up to three in any one entry), you can consider photographing them together as well as providing individual detail. Please clearly show which components belong to each model.
If you have any issues or concerns when uploading your garment photograph, email Angela Fisk, Competition Coordinator with your query.
