The annual WOW Show is a must-do on the calendar, offering a shared experience that all the family or groups of friends can enjoy together. Here's 10 reasons you won't want to miss the 2024 World of WearableArt Show: DREAM AWAKE in Wellington this spring.
Every year of WOW is different, and this year is set to be as spectacular as ever. Executive Creative Director Brian Burke and Show Director Malia Johnston will be taking you into a world between worlds – that mesmerising state between dream and wake. They'll be weaving six realms inspired by the 2024 WOW Competition sections, which this year include Geometric Abstraction, Crazy Curiosities of the Creature Carnival, and Natural World.
The global design competition at the heart of WOW takes art off the wall and onto the moving body. As well as speaking to global issues and trends, there is a real sense of joy, love, and celebration in this year’s 90 finalist entries. Expect an uplifting and mesmerising escape; pretty sure that’s what a lot of us need right now.
Constant evolution is in World of WearableArt’s DNA. This year we’re building a completely new stage, which will unlock some incredible new performance technology and bring more garments into the audience through two entry ramps at the front of stage.
Sharn Te Pou and Nikita 雅涵 Tu-Bryant will be headlining as the ‘dreamer’ and ‘dream maker’ and be joined by a cast of performers at the top of their game.
2023 WOW Show ticket buyers gave us a near perfect satisfaction rating (96%) and the team are committed keep raising the bar of the WOW experience. Value for your money is so important and we promise the most wondrous of spectacles.
Heard about the concept of ‘glimmers’ and the positive impact of awe? Basically, a trip to WOW is good for you! Escape, be inspired, laugh and delight in the magic of the multi-discipline creative collisions and total joy of the finale.
Wellington has so much on in spring. From Blossom Valley – the annual spring celebration of over 350 cherry blossom trees at Aston Norwood Gardens – to Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder just up the road at Tākina, Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre, there’s plenty to build your visit around. One of this year’s WOW judges – Jimmy D – has also re-explored the museum collection he grew up with, in The House of Dowse x Jimmy D at The Dowse Art Museum.
Wellington loves showing WOW visitors and locals a great time in this wonderful, creative, walkable city of ours. Show your WOW ticket at participating retailers and eateries to unlock special deals especially for WOW fans, and keep an eye out for the DREAM DOORS campaign on the streets for your chance to win a trip to the 2025 WOW Show.
While a premium experience, we’re proud to offer a range of ticket prices and experiences. Restricted tickets are available from $59* and $79* respectively and there are discounted prices on all ticket types across our Preview and Off Peak shows. We pride ourselves on offering value for the money you pay at Aotearoa’s largest arena spectacle. *Card surcharges apply.
Whether coming from out-of-town or planning a staycation, Wellington is blessed with a great range of quality accommodation. Our partners at QT Wellington and Sojourn Apartment Hotel offer sophisticated spots to relax in between shopping and show time.
